Television Tower

Taller than the Eiffel Tower and offering a bird’s-eye view of Vilnius, the TV Tower was opened on 30 December 1980 and was considered a marvel. It was not the city’s first tower – the first television tower was built on S. Konarskio Street. When the new tower started operating, the quality of television as well as radio communication improved considerably and offered some entertainment for residents and guests of the city.

The construction of the tallest building in Lithuania, which houses the revolving Paukščių Takas Restaurant (Milky Way), took six years. The TV Tower’s designers unofficially gave the tower a 300-year warranty; hence, we will pass it on to future generations. Recently, an observation deck was installed at 180 metres, where the city can be seen as if it’s in the palm of your hand. On special occasions, the tower is illuminated in different colours.
